How to root Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1

Android 3.1 has been release for a while now. Do you want to update your Android 3.0 tablet to 3.1 version. I have seen some tutorials online to teach you how to upgrade Motorola Xoom or Galaxy Tab 10.1 to Android 3.1.

For Motorola Xoom, it is much simpler, just copy and cover the original settings and run some comands. But for Galaxy Tab 10.1, you'll need to root it first.

Root is top controler in Linux system. Because Android is based on Linux, so there is root, too. You have to switch to root and then you can make chages of the settings.

PREREQUISITES

  • 1. You need to have ADB Setup on computer.
  • 2. You should have successful USB connection between Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the computer. You can simply install Samsung Kies that will take care of all necessary drivers.
  • 3. Download the Rooting tool to computer.

INSTRUCTIONS

  • 1. Connect the Tab to computer using USB cable.
  • 2. Open the command prompt and change directory (cd command) to the location of the downloaded rooting tool.
  • 3. Run the following commands:
  •
    adb push allidoiswin.zip/sdcard/allidoiswin.zip
    adb reboot recovery
  • 4. The tab will now go into ‘Recovery mode’.
  • 5. In the ‘Recovery mode’, go to ‘apply update from /sdcard’ and then select the allidoiswin.zip file.

Now, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 has been rooted. Go ahead and upgrade it to Android 3.1 freely.
