Most people believe that the reality these shows portray is authentic, but they are being misled. How authentic can these shows be when producers design challenges for the participants and then editors alter filmed scenes?†Yes, it’s about reality television. But reality television is merely the MacGuffin here. The SAT essays questions are designed to test a student’s logic, their writing skills, and their argumentative abilities. It’s using reality television as a reference point to talk about layers of artifice. Basic essay writing 101 is built on a foundation of bullshit â€" how much you can sling, right? And this question seems perfectly teed up to be bullshitted out of the park. Even if students don’t know a single thing about reality television, chances are good that students have heard about it enough to sling three or four pages of bullshit to get a passing mark.
