KILDARE brides take note - if wedded bliss is boring you silly then pull out your wedding dress and get trashed for charity.
Rosemarie Meleady, who runs The Wedding Planner website, is looking for willing fun loving newly weds to enter a unique wedding dress photo session."We're looking for post wedding girls and couples to jump back into their wedding garb again and put it through the paces – swimming in it, wearing it on horseback, rolling around the beach in it and generally have great fun, while we have professional photographers click away to record the session," she explains.
"It's up to the bride how far she wants to take it, most dresses can be restored to their original glory afterwards with dry cleaning."
"Basically we are setting up Trash the Dress sessions in aid of the very worthy charity Sightsavers International. Each bride will be asked to raise a minimum €300 for the charity to participate in this great event. It only costs €25 to give one person the gift of sight through a cataract operation, so by sacrificing their dress from the best day of their lives, each bride will be giving 12 people the best day of their lives – the day they have their sight restored. In return, the post-bride will have fabulous unique photos to remember the day by. The husbands too can join in the session."
And you don't even have to be married to take part.
"We have already had a few single girls sign up who are buying dresses from Oxfam for a shoot just for the fun of it," she added. "So they are helping two charities at once which is great and they'll have some really cool, fun and sexy, model portfolio style shots of themselves at the end of it."
It will be up to each girl how far she wants to go with trashing her dress, but the extremists will probably have the most fun and get the best shots! Those who take part are guaranteed a fabulous day with lots of craic and each bride or couple will be given prints of the best of their photos after the event.
Rosemary is also looking for locations around Kildare for the shoots to take place - so you could have some fantastic shots of galloping a horse across the Curragh or swimming in the Liffey in your frock of dreams.
Brides and couples can register their interest in taking part online through www.theweddingplanner.ie or call The Wedding Planner 053 9429679.
